The aerospace sector in the United Arab Emirates is all set to receive a major boost, with the Suppliers Complex of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub scheduled to be completed by September 2022.
The first vertical aerospace complex in the region, the Suppliers Complex is a G+3 development that offers more than 12,000 square metres of light industrial space to players in the aerospace and aviation industry. Designed to attract startups as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, the facility offers 86 leasable units across three levels for companies that may want to engage in aircraft parts trading, maintenance services, aerospace operations, and drone companies.
Located in the Dubai South free zone, which has its own airport, the establishment of the new facility is in line with their mandate to cement Dubai’s position on the global aviation map. This includes providing the aviation industry with the required infrastructure and facilities needed to open their businesses at the Mohammed Bin
Rashid Aerospace Hub. Tahnoon Saif, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, adds that they are offering incentives to startup companies as well as SMEs.
Spread over a massive 145 square kilometres, the Dubai South free zone is an integrated ecosystem that not only offers a dedicated state-of-the-art facility for those in the aviation and aerospace sectors, but also those in the logistics sector.
The Al Maktoum International Airport, which can accommodate wide-bodied aircraft, is located here, and cargo can be moved from port to airport in just 20 minutes. The Dubai South free zone is also home to several companies that specialize in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of aircraft engines, components, and landing gear. It opened a heliport in 2021 with the aim of launching a helicopter maintenance cluster and is slated to attract $4.6 billion in investment by 2030, when everything will be fully completed.
